Before forging the path ahead, it’s important to pause and reflect on the past year. In a recent live Facebook video, I shared a simple method to help with this process. It starts with asking what worked and what did not, and considering why. The next step is to think about what you might want to stop doing, start doing and continue doing to become the best version of you in the coming year. I’ve provided a worksheet, My Year in Review to guide you.
Next, begins the work of setting your intention for the new year and the goals you hope to achieve. Setting goals helps to clarify you ideas, focus on your efforts, use your time and resources better and achieve what you want.
In a second video, I share a format to help you set goals, understand your motivations, identify actions need and evaluate progress. Here is the Goal Planning Worksheet you can download to help with this part of the process as well. You will be 42% more likely to achieve your goal if you write it down.
To become the best version of you in the year ahead you have to believe in the possibility. And remember, setting goals is only half the job, you have to take action. If you start to get off track or frustrated, remind your self of the motivation you set for the goal and ask yourself, “What is at stake if I don’t achieve this goal?” “How will my life change as a result of accomplishing this goal?”
A few tips:
- Write your goals down and keep them visible
- Frequently monitor
- Celebrate incremental progress
- Stick with it – don’t give up
This is your one life, powered by you. Embrace it. Love it. Enjoy it.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
